Screening utilization of different natural prebiotic extracts by probiotic Lactobacillus sp. for development of synbiotic for aquaculture uses

The study is aimed to develop a relevant synbiotic promote growth performance of the whiteleg shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei. For this, four common natural fiber extracts from Arcera banana, Siamese yellow sweet potato, and white potato were screened for supporting Lactobacillus sp. which was isolated shrimp intestines with probiotic activity, prebiotic score, ability induce bacterial enzyme activities protease, leu-aminopeptidase, a-amylase. Results showed that able utilize all banana as sole carbon sources. At 24 hours culture, highest after adding extract source. Considering pathogenic bacteria, including Vibrio parahaemolyticus, had score mean 0.25 compared those V. harveyi 0.16. White induced protease. These results indicated more suitable combining culture.
